and mat. *NOTE: These designs were done using Electric
Quilt 4 software. The basic Friendship star block is based on a "nine-patch" form, and is made by combining a mixture of half-square triangles and squares. Here it is:

Then pull out the colored pencils and play with some different designs. Notice how you can create secondary designs depending on how you color your corner blocks! Mix the Friendship star with other nine-patch blocks. Designing is so much fun you may have trouble moving on to fabric!
