Quilts for Community Theater

With their Bernina 180 and 150 machines Hans' customer, Renee Shedivy,  her aunt Donna Tegen and  long time Hans' customer Joellyn Quinn created 6 wonderful quilts for the new Gerald Bartell Community Theater in Madison.

They were inspired to take on this daunting project when they discovered that the high ceilings in the lobby caused a sound problem during intermission. Each quilt  has a theater group's logo machine appliqued on it.

As stated in the 2001 More Quilts From Wisconsin video, "The bright, glitzy colors represent theater in all of its glory and glamour and the metallic threads were meant to catch the spotlights so they would twinkle when theater-goers look up at the high ceiling.  Three of  the quilts borders are geese representing the crew always up on high working on sets & lighting, and the other 3 borders are stars . . . like the actors!"

Now they are working on a 7th quilt as another theater group has joined the theater. Click on the small pictures  below  to see a selection of  their wonderful work!
