Sara Fisher created this impeccable wedding dress (and bridesmaid's accessories) for her daughter, who showed it off to the world when she was married last October.

The dress is a combination of many different patterns. Sara used 13 spools of Yenmet thread to do the hooped embroidery work along the bodice, sleeves and bottom of the dress. Hundreds of blue and clear Austrian crystal beads are hand-sewn into the embroidery work and onto the shrug. She also embroidered the bridesmaids shawls, bags & hankies using 6 spools of a blue YLI metallic thread, and also made the flower girl's dress and accessories.

This queen-sized cathedral window quilt was started February 1 and completed July 2. Although she was able to devise a way to do some of the work on her sewing machine, there was still a lot of hand sewing involved. Because you fold and manipulate the fabric, there is no batting or a separate backing. The cream background fabric required 32 yards of fabric.

This was a wedding gift for her daughter, and incorporated her colors of navy, burgundy and green. Many of the fabrics are etched in gold and mom even snuck in a few of her favorite purples as well as her daughter's favorite flower: pansies.

Sara altered the pattern to suit her tastes, but the basic pattern can be found in the May / June Quiltmaker magazine (issue #73).
