Do you have a sewing machine or serger that's no longer being used? The Sewing Machine Project will find a good home with a grateful recipient.

Our full-service retail store closed in June 2008 after 54 years on Williamson Street. However, due to the high volume of requests after we closed, we are now again offering repair service on (virtually all makes and models of) sewing machines, sergers & vacuum cleaners, as well as expert sharpening of scissors and knives.
To have your product serviced by us:

1) Before you bring in your product (sewing machine, serger, vacuum cleaner or scissor[s] and / or knife [knives] to be sharpened), please print out and complete our Repair Check-in Form.

2) Take your repair / sharpening item(s) to our current pick-up / drop-off point, which is Gayfeather Fabrics, located at 1521 Williamson Street (right across the parking lot from our former retail location at 1525 Williamson), during their normal business hours. Important: Gayfeather Fabrics cannot accept sewing machines that are in cabinets. If you have a machine in a cabinet, removal and reinstallation is very simple, and transporting your machine without the cabinet is much easier. Email us with the make and model number of your machine, and you will be emailed an illustrated guide to removing from and reinstalling into your cabinet.

3) Current average turnaround time for repairs / sharpening is 20 days*.

*Average turnaround time is our best estimate based on the number of units in the queue at the time of your unit's check-in and may vary.

Advantages of having your product(s) repaired by us include:

  • All items are personally repaired by owner Dave Neuenschwander, with a career of 30,000+ items serviced in our family business, now in its 55th year of operation. I've probably seen and worked on your machine or vacuum, and I know the repair / adjustment procedures as well as the potential syndromes your particular item may have. Consequently, both my analysis and repair time (in addition to quality and total cost) will often be less than that of competitors.
  • Workmanship on repairs is guaranteed for six months.
  • Estimates are free.
  • We welcome repairs that other dealers say "it isn't worth it", "we can't can't fix it", "we can't get parts for it", "it's going to cost $$$ (i.e. more than you though) to fix it, who would rather sell you a new product instead of fixing yours, or who would just rather not be bothered at all repairing your product.

Please note that our former retail store's phone number (608-257-2738) is not active at this time. For any questions, please contact us via email.
