Our pick-up & drop-off point for repairs and merchandise is at Gayfeather Fabrics, located at 1521 Williamson Street in Madison (right next door to our former retail store, which closed in 2008). All the information you need to get your repair checked in is found by scrolling down on this page to the heading "To Have Your Product Serviced / Repaired By Us:" Estimated turnaround time information is always available by scrolling down on this page to the subsection titled "3) Repair / Service Turnaround Time:"

Advantages of having your product(s) serviced / repaired by me:

  • All items personally are personally serviced by owner Dave Neuenschwander, with over 30-years full-time (and 10+ years part-time before that), and with 35,000+ items personally serviced in our family business, established in 1954.
  • Workmanship on your repair is guaranteed for six months.
  • I don't just grab a bottle of oil to lubricate your machine. I have ten different highly-specialized oils, lubricants, solvents and greases specifically used for different areas of your machine to provide the ultimate balance of lubrication, speed and performance, smooth operation, minimizing wear and extending product life.
  • Many tens of thousands of satisfied customers spanning over a half-century in South Central Wisconsin that have been serviced by me, my father, and the many skilled employees who worked for us since since 1954..
  • Estimates are free - it won't cost you a dime to find out how much your repair will cost.
  • Thousands of parts in stock (and many thousands more available) for sewing machines, sergers and vacuum cleaners.
  • We welcome repairs that others have told you "isn't worth it", "can't be fixed", "can't get parts", or "it's going to cost $$$ (i.e.
a lot more than you thought) to fix".  Unfortunately, some dealers will try and use your repair to "shift" you into buying a new product instead, or will give you the clear impression that they'd simply rather not be bothered servicing your item.

Contact Information:

Email will result in the fastest response time to your question / inquiry / request*. Email Dave by clicking here.

*I receive far more phone calls and messages than I can possibly return while still being able to keep up with repair work. I take a moment to check emails between repairs and typically respond at that time. Emailing insures you will get a response, and get it in a timely manner. If you still wish to contact by phone, call (608) 257-2738. If you do call, note that it is not uncommon for my voice mailbox to completely fill in less than a day, which means you won't be able to leave a message if I can't answer your call. which is another reason to email me, where your message will not be missed.

To Have Your Product Serviced / Repaired By Us:

1) Before you bring in your product (sewing machine, serger, vacuum cleaner, or scissors / knives to be sharpened): print out and complete our Repair Check-in Form.

2) Take your service item(s) to our pick-up / drop-off point: Gayfeather Fabrics, located at 1521 Williamson Street in Madison (right next door to our former store at 1525 Williamson Street - Click here for directions). Their hours: (Closed Mondays), Tuesday thru Thursday 11-7; Friday 11-6; Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-4. Important: Gayfeather Fabrics cannot accept sewing machines that are in cabinets. If you have a machine in a cabinet, removal and reinstallation is very simple, and transporting your machine without the cabinet is much easier. If you need instructions on removing the machine from the cabinet, email meYou do not need to make an appointment to bring your product in for service.

3) Repair / Service Turnaround Time:*

Below are best estimates on expected bench dates for sewing machines and sergers:*

Below are best estimates on expected bench dates for vacuum cleaners and scissor / knife sharpening.*

Approximately 7 days*

*Estimated bench dates are just that: our best estimate, based on the average number of items that can be processed on a typical day. These estimates can and do vary daily, and sometimes can change greatly over a period of just one week. Estimated bench dates can become longer when (a) parts that have arrived for previous repairs waiting for them**, (b) repairs for which a customer has approved an estimate**, or (c) time-intensive repairs taking longer than an "average" repair results in less output on a given day. Bottom line: Keep checking this page frequently to see where your item stands in line before contacting me about it.

**In a case like this, the repair item goes to the front of the line, because they were checked in before new repairs currently in the queue.
